He Made it Personal
Ya know, I really didn’t care much about whether Missouri was gonna leave the Big 12 or not. I figured it was their deal if they wanted to freeze to death in the dark with the Yankees of the Big 10. Now though, the Right Rev. Gov. of the great state of Missouri has done gone and made it personal. In statements today Gov. Jay Nixon made it clear where he thought Texas Tech ranked in the grand scheme of things.
Seriously, if you want to go to the Big 10 and whatnot, do it. The campaign to leave the Big 12 is a little sad and out-fr0nt, but that’s your deal. If folks want to know the difference now between Notre Dame, Rutgers and Mizzou they can look at who is desperate and who is telling the media they don’t need the Big 10.
As for academic credentials, I’ll put the finished product that comes out of Texas Tech against anyone in the country. Last I checked it is about educating kids and turning out quality adults. If you want a “ranking” that takes into consideration what the school actually does with the student as opposed to what the student brings to the school, I give you the Forbes report.
Read it if you want, Governor. I don’t think you’ll like where the Show Me School shows up compared to Texas Tech.
I get weary of reports and academic, pointy-headed intellectuals telling me how good Texas Tech is or is not. I know. The people of Texas and the rest of the country know when they hire a Tech grad. Ask GM if they like the Tech education right now. . . I bet they do.
Meanwhile, Mizzou can whore themselves out all they want. If they think they can get a better deal in the Big 10, take it. I’ve got a feeling, they think they’re playing the Big 12 for fools right now. They need to think again.
