Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .
Fireworks are gonna fly on The Show Wednesday when we take up the notion that a national boycott of Arizona sports activities should take place because of their new Immigration Bill.
Kevin B. Blackistone (heard of him…) says American sports fans and teams should boycott Arizona because of the racial overtones of the bill. He likens it to the Civil Rights struggles for Blacks in the 1960′s.
Pat Buchanan counters that Arizona’s leaders are doing what they must since the federal government has abdicated its responsibility to the citizens of the state. Buchanan says Arizona is protecting the rights of citizens, not taking them away.
So, should there be a boycott of Arizona much like what the NCAA has done to Mississippi and South Carolina over the Confederate Flag being used on state grounds there? Would you support the boycott? Sports and politics are never far off, they both generate great passion ( and sometimes little intelligent thought ). . .
You can start getting your thoughts out right here on the site and we’ll read the best of the best on The Show Wednesday starting at three Central. See you then.

The difference between Blackistone and good shock-value writers such as Whitlock, Wilbon or Reily, who also touch on touchy issues, is that they usually have good points, do good research and only go extreme when it somewhat makes sense.
Blackistone is a square and in this piece, he is way over his head. The reality is that not enough people even like reading his stuff for him to even attempt to rally people against an issue, especially such an issue he undermines.
Immigration has nothing to do with racism, it is a serious issue that our country needs to get a grasp on. To be honest I stopped reading after Blackistone said something along the lines of “Search peoples cars who appear to be hispanic.”
Blackistone was good in the old days when general post game write-ups and columns were appreciated. Unfortunately the internet has made the general write-up unappealing and Blackistone has tried to adjust.
Blackistone is nothing more than an old school reporter who has tried on multiple occasions to step into the new-age circle with his columns and just like most of his columns, in this one he once again failed miserably.
So to answer the question I don’t think Arizona should be boycotted.
Hope all is well in the Hub.
