Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .
It is another day of Big 12 break-up news on The Show. We’ll wait til this afternoon, see which way the wind is blowing and bring you the appropriate guests for the situation. Yesterday is was most interesting hearing from Kansas State radio guru Matt Walters and hearing his take on the league falling apart vs. Matt Coatney from Nebraska and his view from soon-to-be Big 10 Country. It’s gonna get ugly folks. Reminds me much of 1995 and the final hours of the SWC. ( Kudos by the way if anyone remembers where the final action on the playing field of SWC competition took place??? )
Updated: As or right now we’re due to visit with Chuck Carlton from the DMN about what Tech, Texas, A&M and Baylor officials are talking about today as well as Chris Dufresne from the LA Times about the Pac 10 news of the day and USC sanctions. More guests most likely on the way so keep checking back.
I’m laughing at the reports from last night that A&M and Texas officials met to try and “save” the Big 12. Ya right. More like Texas officials telling A&M they can go to hell or the SEC, either way they won’t be playing UT anytime soon if they don’t go to the Pac 10. A&M needs Texas a lot more than Texas needs A&M. Heck, A&M would have to change their fight song. Very expensive.
Barry Tramel has a good column today in the Daily Oklahoman about the Pac 10 trying to avoid the mistakes of the Big 12. The best way to do that is to not invite Tom Osborne or any old guard Big 8 folks that never thought of the Big 12 as a new conference.
In the A-J today a “high-ranking” Tech official says if NU is gone, and they are, then Tech is heading west. I’ve got an idea who the official is but I won’t spill the beans. High-ranking is right.
We’ll also visit with Shaun Lenrose from The Ticket in Dallas this afternoon as well as get your thoughts on the Cultural Index Question.
Check back later for breaking news on guests and other show notes. It could get bumpy today so fasten your seat belts and get ready for a wild ride.

Was the last SWC play at the 1995 Cotton Bowl–Texas Tech vs. USC? Tech got obliterated. Halftime was the only thing good Tech had going for it.
Kim, it only seemed that way…
I want to say it was the Baseball tournament at Dan Law in 1996. Rice kind of ruined everything.
