5 Things We Know On A Friday: 9/3/10
1. Folks can quit wondering if Utah will upgrade the Pac-12. They will. Heck they already do. Now Pitt had no real reason to be ranked as high as they were but Utah proved again they’re better than 3/4′s of the current Pac-10 teams. Great atmosphere there last night as well. Pac-10 teams will be in for a rude awakening when they begin going there on a regular basis. The West Coast does some things really well but college football atmosphere isn’t one of them.
2. Now that LP&L is being raided by the City for projects they don’t want to pay for but want to do anyways I assume LP&L Board Members will be allowed to dictate policy when it comes to streets, traffic lights and when and where to build them. Right? Makes sense if they have to pay for it they should have control over how the money is spent (wasted).
3. Taylor Potts is the most physically gifted QB to take a snap at Texas Tech since golfer Billy Joe Tolliver drove Dick Winder crazy in the 1980′s. Now, can he prove it on the field is the question. My money is on Potts.
4. As soon as Sunday comes and goes and Texas Tech fans get back into the game-day ritual, do the tail-gating drink the cold beer and eat the BBQ, as soon as Texas Tech fans see the Red Raiders throw the ball around, put some points on the board and hammer S.M.U. the whole Mike Leach-thing will seem a lot farther away than it ever has for the vast majority of Texas Tech fans. By Sept. 18 . . . a distant memory.
5. Terry Bradshaw is a helluva lot smarter than most folks give him credit for. His comments regarding Ben Roethlisberger’s suspension NOT being reduced by the NFL couldn’t be more dead-on. Bradshaw may be bat-___ crazy but more and more I find myself agreeing with him. Not sure what that says about my mental state?
6. Bonus–Why is it that fans have so many NFL analysts that they like and respect and think do a great job but if you ask the same folks who the respect and like as college football analysts they can’t name one. In fact most have a low regard for the college football analysts. Hmm. Wonder why that is . . . Bias anyone?
