Lubbock’s First News on our sister station Newstalk 790 KFYO visited with Senate candidate Craig James earlier today. Of course he’s kinda more well known around these parts as the dad of a Red Raider football player that may or may not have been involved in some sort of scandalous incarceration by a guy that liked pirates and swords. You know the story. . .
So, with James popularity rating in West Texas hovering somewhere around dust-storms and prairie dog holes he took to the air with Chad Hasty to lay-out his vision for Texas, the United States and more. He also took time to answer some questions regarding Mike Leach. The guy with the sword-thing. That’s where it got interesting.
James didn’t pull any punches responding to Hasty’s questions about what he did or didn’t do while working games for ESPN plus he talks at length about how Leach even continued to recruit another one of his sons after the allegations of him being the ultimate helicopter dad would have taken place.
It’s a most interesting listen. Hear for yourself and make up your own mind.

as for his Leach comments, I agree with him…. some people don’t want to hear the truth.
I would have liked for Chad to ask, what do you mean by…. “he has to answer for his actions?”
I don’t think Craig wanted Leach fired.
I hope to God that James never has the chance to “stand” for TX like he did for his boy. His “standing” helped put Tech football back 5+ years (and rock local merchants in the process)– what would he do to ag, energy, education, etc?
