Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

Hope you’re having a great St. Patrick’s Day as we begin the frivolity of March Madness a day early it seems. Tonight on The Show we’ll take your calls on the first Big 12 team to exit on the men’s side. Check your brackets, check the start times and watch for upsets. If you get the right team you’ll win a gift certificate to Lubbock’s legendary Caprock Cafe!

We’ll also hear from Lady Raider Head Coach Kristy Curry on their game with Houston on Thursday as well as look at last nights win for the men at Seton Hall where Darko “took one for the team” to a new level!

During the 4p.m. hour NASCAR chef, motivational speaker and life coach Virgil Cain will have his agent call in. This will not be pretty I fear. Gerald Humphries is one of those guys. . .

Get your thoughts in here on the is post and we’ll read some of the best Big 12 predictions on the air tonight. We’re going to start posting the Show Notes like this each day so you can get a head-start on everyone and weigh-in before we hit the air.

Be safe out there today,

Hyatt

Hyatt's got his thoughts about Tech's win over Washington, the best radio broadcast in the Big 12, folks complaining about the coverage of Tiger Woods and why Mark Mangino isn't coaching at Kansas anymore.

Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

Great crowd last night at the United Spirit Arena for Tech‘s OT win over Washington. Over 9,000 fans on hand at the start of December. That’s a great tribute to Lubbock on a bitter cold night during a time of year when most folks around these parts aren’t thinking about basketball. Those idiots out there that run-down Tech fans for basketball attendance don’t get it and I’m sick and tired of hearing from them.

You win a game like that and folks around the country begin to take notice. ESPN’s Andy Katz shared his thoughts on the four-letter network’s blog last night.

The best radio you’ll hear this year in the Big 12 is Nebraska Women’s Basketball broadcasts with Matt Coatney and Jeff Griesch. If you love basketball it is worth it. If you just like to sit back and laugh out loud more than a few times, these guys are for you.

I’m getting tired of folks complaining about the coverage of Tiger Woods by saying that it isn’t a real story because “everyone” does it. Really? Everyone cheats on their wife? I didn’t know that.

Mark Mangino is out at Kansas because he couldn‘t control himself and couldn’t get along with his boss. For all the hero worship and media attention college coaches get these days, let alone the pay, it is easy to forget that they do work for someone else. They aren’t the boss and they aren’t untouchable. Call it a witch hunt if you want to, but Mangino worked for Lew Perkins, not the other way around. It will be most interesting to see what A.D. decides to hire Mangino next. If he doesn’t land a job it isn’t because of his weight, Jason Whitlock, it’ll be because he can’t work well and play well with others.

Pat Knight gets his signature win and the Tech men's program is showing real progress with a big OT win.

Good evening West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

Texas Tech nailed down a 99-92 OT win over #10 Washington at the United Spirit Arena moving the Red Raiders to their best start in years as well as giving Pat Knight’s bunch a sure-fire sign that the program is getting better and getting closer to returning to NCAA Tournament form.

The Lubbock-Avalanche Journal gives the nuts and bolts on a wild night at the USA.

Sure this isn’t the biggest win in Tech history, but in recent history it is probably the best gauge that Tech has turned a corner and moved forward instead of treading water. For Knight, he gets a win that he can call all his own and largely done with players that mark his stamp on this program.

We’ll have much more on this game Friday on The Show, but for now just enjoy a night where you can watch SportsCenter and catch Tech fans celebrating not just a big win at Jones Stadium, but a meaningful win at the United Spirit Arena.
