Give us your thoughts on Eli, Wes and the Giants vs. Cowboys. Good, Bad and Ugly Monday.

Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

1. If Eli Manning never played another NFL game, would you put him in the Hall of Fame? Two rings, one of the best passing yardage seasons we’ve seen this past year and the ability to be “clutch” in the post-season as well as any QB we’ve seen in the Super Bowl era. What do you think and who do you most compare him to from past NFL greats?

2. Same question for Wes Welker right now. No rings but has put up some monster numbers. Four of last five years with over 100 catches while working in a rehab from knee injury. 650 career regular season catches. Maybe the Ultimate Chain-Mover in the NFL. Great mustache. Marrying a Miss Hooters International. With the total package has he done enough or is there more work to do for the man that most likely gets the franchise tag for New England?

3. For Dallas Cowboys fans, what’s the biggest difference between the Cowboys and the Giants over the past five years? Do you think there’s a talent gap? Is it coaching? Is it culture? Other than Eli Manning, and that may be enough, what does New York have that Dallas doesn’t?

We’ll kick these questions around today on the show as well as take your calls on The Domino’s Fanline on your Good, Bad and Ugly winners of the weekend. Don’t forget you can listen to all of SportsRadio 1340 The Fan’s Shows live online everyday for free. We’ll see ya at three.

If I were on the show today, here's what I'd talk about. Oklahoma State, Tech DC search, the Cowboys collapse and more.

Good afternoon West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

There’s not much worse than getting sick around a holiday or a vacation. I hate it. Started feeling poorly Sunday night and it just kept getting worse. I get a bad cold or flu once every few years, so I guess this was my time. I used to schedule it for October, right before basketball season started so it wouldn’t affect my play-by-play. Now that I don’t travel with Texas Tech I guess it decided it can show up whenever. Thanks.

The worst part was not being able to stay up and watch the Stanford-OSU game last night. Sure, there’s DVR, but when you know the results it just isn’t the same. Throw-in the fact that the game is rendered meaningless under the current BCS system that tells us only one game matters and you have a great game in a vacuum syndrome. It was cool to watch, but means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Oh if it were the National Semi-Final Game! We’d be talking about that game last night for years to come. Instead, fans will largely forget about it in a few weeks nationally, which in Palo Alto is a good thing I guess.

That would be one thing I’d be talking about on the show tonight, except I won’t be there, so I’ve got to bang out a few words here and see what y’all think.

How much more attention would you have paid that game last night if it had been for the right to play in the National Title Game? If Alabama gets the win against LSU does Oklahoma State rightfully have a claim to a split-title this yr? Did the Cowboys really do anything last night to make you think they deserved a shot at LSU? ( A little defense would have been nice to see )

If we were on today we’d also recap the end of the Dallas Cowboys season. We all saw it coming, but for different reasons I think. I’m still surprised at how many people think Dallas choked this year. They continue to over-value the talent that the Cowboys have on both sides of the ball. In order to choke, you’ve got to have a decided advantage over your opponents and then do everything you can to make them win. That rarely happens in pro sports. Fans just like to throw that word around because it makes them feel like the other team isn’t really better, it’s just their team stinking it up.

Dallas didn’t choke, they’re just not that good. Slightly better than average talent in most spots and well below in other spots for sure.

Now the question becomes for some, do you give Rob Ryan more time on defense or does he become the fall-guy for this past season? I’d stick with him. Get better talent, give him a full off-season to work with players and I think you’ll see results. It ain’t the X’s and O’s in Dallas right now it’s the Jimmies and Joes. . .

Oh well, time for the meds to kick in. Y’all listen live tonite via www.1340thefan.com and get the latest on the Red Raider’s search for a defensive coordinator ( Art Kauffman anyone? ) as well as recaps of the bowls and more with Don Williams, Robert Snyder and Zack Kennedy. I’ll be back Wednesday if the creek and my fever don’t rise.

Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

Another great day in the Hubbaplex. Today we’ll visit with Shaun Lenrose from The Ticket in Dallas about how the Rangers are bouncing back this week as well as Cowboy’s OTA’s and how the Tech guys are doing.

It is also Cultural Index Day so get ready to stretch your mind a bit outside the box of sports.

Of course we’ll also get your thoughts on the Ump blowing the call in the Detroit game costing Armando Galarraga a perfect game. No doubt it was a horrible call, but it does that mean MLB needs to go to full-on replay like the NFL does? You let us know today. As for me, I still say no replay in sports. I can live with bad plays by players, bad decisions by coaches and even bad calls by officials. Life’s hard.

Get your thoughts in now and we’ll read them on the air tonight, or give us a call at 1-966-984-5326 no matter where you are from 3-7 on The Fan!

Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were…

We were going to release this on New Year’s Eve, but with all the madcap zaniness surrounding the firing of Mike Leach we decided to wait a few days, and in fact tweak the list up a bit to account for current events. Feel free to add your own predictions to the bottom of the page! Remember, Mr. Hyatt is not board certified as an oracle, see-er, predictor of events or a wizard. Some folks can and do lose money. Make sure any predictions are right for you and your family before taking and always consult a doctor.

Texas Tech and Mike Leach will settle out of court with very few details coming out about what precipitated his firing. Both sides will claim victory. Leach will walk away with about 1.2 million dollars. ESPN will devote two days of specials to the impact of standing in dark rooms on college football players and what President Obama should do about it.

Vice President Joe Biden will resign citing health concerns in order to set-up a battle with Hilary Clinton for the Democrat nomination. Oprah will take his place in the Obama administration.

Lubbock voters will decide they no longer need or want a mayor or city council members and will refuse to vote anyone into office in May. There will be no noticeable differences in City services or leadership for several years.

Texas Tech’s new football coach will achieve great popularity when he tells fans after winning in College Station that it just isn’t a big deal to win down here anymore and that the Aggie tradition just ain’t all that anymore.

Nolan Ryan will take over as manager of the Texas Rangers at the All-Star break. Texas pitchers will be placed on a pitch-count. Starters will not be taken out of any game before they reach 120 pitches no matter what.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal will cease printing on weekdays, going online only. The world won’t end, their profit margin will go up and readers will be better served.

Dallas Cowboys will win a play-off game.

Texas Tech football players will vote each game via Facebook and Twitter who they want to coach them that particular week.

Israel will bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities with U.S. backing and oil will climb to 125 dollars a barrel. People will gripe for a while, say they’ll drive less, Boone Pickens will be on TV too much and then by the end of the year things will be back to normal.

Tim Tebow will be drafted by the Oakland Raiders, convince Al Davis to give up control of the team, hire Urban Meyer and begin a 20-year run as the top sports franchise in the world helping lead to the eradication of hunger world-wide.

I’m sorry, but if you’ve got your young kids out in the cold at midnight waiting in line at a toy store to “save” some money; your priorities really need to be evaluated.

Colt McCoy is one of the greatest college QB’s ever. There. I said it.Better than Tim Tebow? Yes.

This mess in Dubai is not good. It is much more regionally contained than say a China or Japan meltdown but it still isn’t good. The ripple effect will be most interesting to watch in the financial markets over the next few weeks. Again, we get to see who owns what and where and how much of it.

Mall Santas creep me out.

There are some Dallas Cowboys fans that think Tony Romo won a big game yesterday.

Hyatt asked to be reminded about Brett Favre, Tony Romo, the Texas Tech defense and why he drafted a certain RB for his fantasy football team. Get your reminders in today!

Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

Remind me again Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy why it was so important to fire Brett Favre and begin the Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay. Maybe now that Favre and the Vikes have completely eliminated the Packers from divisional contention more Green Bay fans will realize that the problems are and have been the egos at the top. Green Bay had a very short window to win in ’07 and ’08 and Thompson and his genius McCarthy compromised it by trying to make sure everyone knew it would be “their championship” and not Favre’s. Remind me again how that’s working out. . .

Remind me again how Ruffin McNeil’s defense needed a scheme change. After getting pushed around a week ago by A&M’s front Texas Tech did the pushing against Kansas and totally took over the game in the second half. They did it as well with a banged up secondary that could have been exposed by Todd Reesing but wasn’t thanks to great pressure by Tech’s front. With QB Steven Sheffield not likely to be able to got at OSU, it’ll be up to the defense again to provide a spark. As Don Williams points out in the A-J today the Red Raiders can feel good for the next few weeks thanks to that defense and a steady dose of Baron Batch. Remind me again how that unit couldn’t play. . .

Remind me again exactly who is wearing Tony Romo’s Dallas Cowboy uniform the last two weeks. He looks mature and in control. He looks like Eli Manning. Of course this all came about because he was shown wearing his hat forward a few weeks back early in the Atlanta game. Of course maybe it just helps to play Seattle at home too, with the Jim Brown of WR’s, Miles Austin on your side. Remind me again after Philly why I thought Romo had grown-up. . .

Remind me again why I should care about Texas and Florida on a collision course for the BCS Championship game. It would be one thing if these two teams were representative of how good the SEC and Big 12 have been lately, but they aren’t. This is a year where you can find no elite teams in college football. Remind me again when the BCS ratings come out in Januarary and no one watched.

Remind me, anyone, again why I drafted Brandon Jacobs as my #2 fantasy football RB. . .
