Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

Finally. It is here. Super Bowl Sunday. Not so much because I can’t wait to watch the New York Giants play the New England Patriots, but rather because the hype is over and we can get on with our lives.

That said, we’ve got to add a little spice to things so let’s have some fun with it beyond trying to figure out a creative way to get out of work on Monday. ( post your best excuses-ideas here by the way )

We want y’all to give us your score picks today. If anyone gets it exactly right, including the winning team of course, we’ll get you set-up with some great Rudy’s BBQ! For tie-break purposes we need to know how many receiving yards former Red Raider Wes Welker has tonight. Closest to that actual number will be the winner. We’ll also throw in some other random prizes for great picks, predictions and analysis.

So, have at it. Give it a shot and give us your pick today!

If you heard the show Friday, you know I went with New York 31-24. It’s crazy to pick against Tom Brady, but I think the Giants offense can put a number up on the Patriots defense that I just don’t see New England being able to match today. So, with that in mind, obviously you should pick the other way.

Be sure and let us know what you’re cooking today and where you’re taking the game in. Don’t forget our pre-game coverage starts at 1 on The Fan, so listen online or if you’re out driving around the Hubbaplex today you know where to find The Super Bowl on your radio dial! Time for me to get the queso going.

Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .

How is it possible, according to DoubleTNation and others, that there were huge turnouts in Houston and Dallas for Texas Tech coach Tommy Tuberville’s recruiting round-up and meet and greets? I thought Tech fans were angry and boycotting the program over the firing of Mike Leach? I guess that’s what happens when a few internet agitators with empty activism garner headlines. More sound than fury and little action.

Keep your eyes peeled today for some Tech Football news at redraiders.com . It should be quite interesting to say the least.

It was great to turn on Speed last night and see NASCAR LIVE back on the air and practice for the Bud Shoot-Out. I love the “new” plate and can’t wait to get rid of the wing and get back to the spoiler. We may actually get to see drivers race out there this year. Maybe.

Peyton Manning isn’t the best QB of all-time, but he’s getting closer. If the Colts win Sunday it should end all debate, if there is any left, about him being better than Tom Brady.

Every time you complain about the snow and rain on the South Plains lately just go back and read this story in the A-J and feel better. This is great for the area Ag-producers which means it is great for you if you live around the Hubbaplex. Enjoy.
